Steam names fishing, cooking, gardening, and birdwatching among the hobbies, plus pets and the house. Insect catching is the other hobby community guides treat as core.
Fishing arrives in the tutorial. Gardening arrives with Blanc around DG 2. Further hobbies cost Hobby Expansion Tickets.
Spend the first ticket on cooking if you care about gold and requests. Spend it on the hobby you will actually open otherwise.

Hobbies are the game. They are also how players get lost, because each one looks like a completion log and only two of them pay the bills in week one.
What is official
The Steam description says you can develop six major hobbies, “including fishing, cooking, gardening, birdwatching, and more,” and it has a separate pet feature: adopt cats and dogs. It does not print the six names in a bullet list. So:

Home building is a headline feature, not a hobby rank. Plots and home-score rewards follow DG. See the first-week page for how little house you need at the start.
Tickets
A Hobby Expansion Ticket adds a hobby you did not get automatically. The first one is part of the DG 2 story on heartopiawiki.org. Later tickets show up as you rank. They are the real choice in this game, because you cannot do every log at once.
Tool upgrades inside a hobby (wider watering, better rods) are hobby levels, not tickets. Do those with the daily play you are already doing. Do not buy them instead of seeds you can harvest.
Pets
The store page promises cats and dogs with different colors and personalities. They are companions. Community pages add care chores. Nothing in the official blurb says a pet raises DG. Feed them if you have them; do not build the gold plan around them.
Collections we are skipping
Insect and bird completion, rare hybrids, and every recipe are the thick middle of Heartopia.Life, Heartopia.gg, and Heartodex. Linking them is the point of this page. Duplicating them would make a second stale dex.
