Heartopia beginner guide

Quick answer

Finish the tutorial before you optimize anything. It is where fishing, your house, and the first tools show up.

Redeem codes the day you can open Settings. The steps are on the codes page. Rewards sit in the mailbox by your house.

Do the resident requests every day you play. Guides put the cap at five requests and about 50 contribution medals. Missed medals do not come back.

DG level is time-gated. A long fishing session does not replace a day of requests. The town opens up more after the early levels, around DG 5 in player write-ups.

The Steam pitch is the real one: a free-to-play co-op life sim about a house, hobbies, and a town. The first week is narrower than that. You are learning the daily loop and not falling behind on a rank that only moves a little each day.

First session

  1. Create your character and follow the tutorial through to the point where you can walk around freely. Player guides say the opening is long and that it eases after the early DG levels. Stay with it.
  2. Redeem every code you have not used. See Redeem codes.
  3. Find your mailbox, in front of the house, and empty it.
  4. Learn where the map marks people. Blanc (seeds) and the mayor, Atara (town requests), are the two you will look up on purpose.

The daily loop

Do these before you decorate.

  • Resident requests. Community guides agree you should clear the daily board, commonly described as five requests worth up to 50 contribution medals. Those medals are how DG rank moves. A day you skip is a day you do not get back.
  • Talk to Atara when a town or weekly request is up. Write-ups disagree on whether the mayor’s board is daily or weekly. Open it and read the timer in your client.
  • Fish, then plant, then leave. Fishing is the hobby the tutorial pushes first. Gardening, once Blanc is available, grows while you do something else. Plant, go fish, come back.
  • Keep a small stack of common crops, fish, and forage. Requests ask for things you sold yesterday.

What to ignore for seven days

  • A full furniture set. Home score rewards exist later. The first plots and a working kitchen matter more than a matching sofa.
  • Buying every outfit. The store page advertises a large wardrobe. It is not the progression.
  • Wishing Stars. Codes hand some out. They are the premium-leaning currency. This guide will not tell you to purchase them.
  • A bug or bird completion list. Those hobbies are real. They are not the first-week bottleneck.

Week-one goals

DayAimWhy
1Tutorial, codes, mailbox, first fishing spotUnlocks the loop and the free items
2Meet Blanc, plant a fast crop, clear requestsSecond income that grows while you are away
3–4Hold common request items, learn one cooking recipe if Massimo is openCooked food is worth more than the raw stack
5–7Spend the first Hobby Expansion Ticket on purposeCooking if you want gold; otherwise the hobby you will open

The ticket choice is covered on Hobbies. The rank that gates shops and plots is DG level.

House, without a building guide

Steam’s own feature list is “design your dream house” and invite friends to build with you. Early on, treat the house as storage plus the mailbox plus whatever plots DG has opened. Extra plots, warehouse space, and home-score rewards are later DG unlocks on community wikis. We are not publishing a furniture catalog.
