Fishing overview

Fishing is an early hobby, usually from the tutorial, and it is free gold while crops grow.
The fish you can hook change with the spot, the time of day, and the weather. There is no single best pond for every hour.
This page is the method. A full fish list with prices and locations is a database, and Heartopia.Life, Heartopia.gg, and Heartodex already keep one.
Cook a fish you have a recipe for before you sell it. See Make gold.
The official art puts a rod in the water on day one, and the store page names fishing as one of the hobbies. It is the right first activity. It is the wrong thing to turn into a spreadsheet on a site that will not maintain one.
A session
- Clear resident requests if any of them ask for a fish you already have. Buying the fish back later is a bad trade.
- Equip the rod from the tool wheel the tutorial gave you.
- Stand at a marked fishing spot. Cast and play the bite minigame the tutorial taught. Exact timing windows differ by rod and by patch, so use the on-screen prompt.
- Keep a few of each common fish. Sell the duplicates, or cook them.
Weather and the clock are the reason a spot “died.” If the bite list goes quiet, change spot or come back at a different time of day before you assume the rod is broken.
What we will not list
A useful fish page in this game is a table of species, location, time, weather, and price. That table is hundreds of rows and it goes stale. Maintaining it is the job Heartopia.Life, Heartopia.gg, and Heartodex already took.
Gold, briefly
Common fish are a steady vendor item. Rare fish are collection and sometimes gifts or recipes. Chasing a rare shadow for an hour while DG medals sit unfinished is the usual new-player loss. The money page is Make gold.
Event fish show up inside seasonal windows. They are covered as a calendar problem on Seasons and events, not as permanent residents of a pier.
